Roller Doors · Matraville & Eastern Suburbs

Roller door repairs and new roller doors

Roller doors are the most common garage door in Sydney: a single curtain of corrugated steel that rolls onto a drum above the opening. They're simple and tough, but the spring tension inside the drum drops over time, and that's behind most of the roller door calls we get.

We re-tension and balance roller doors, replace worn guides and stoppers, straighten or replace damaged curtains, and fit new roller doors when the old one is beyond saving.

Our roller door service

  1. Check the balance

We disengage the motor and test how the door runs by hand. This shows whether the spring tension is right.

  2. Re-tension and align

Springs are adjusted, the curtain is centred on the drum and the guides are lined up.

  3. Clean and lubricate

Guides are cleaned and the right lubricant applied to wear points. Never grease the guides.

  4. Test and set limits

We run the door with the motor and reset the open and close limits and the safety reverse.

Questions we get asked

How often should a roller door be re-tensioned?

There's no fixed interval. If the door feels heavier than it used to, or the motor is labouring, the tension has probably dropped. A yearly service catches it early.

Can a dented roller door curtain be fixed?

Small dents can often be worked out. A creased or torn curtain usually needs replacing, which is cheaper than a whole new door.

Do you do commercial roller shutters?

Yes, we also service larger roller doors and shutters for warehouses and workshops around Botany and Banksmeadow. See our commercial page.
